2024 COVID-19 Policy

Last updated: 2024 Feb 29

Despite an increasingly lax attitude towards the pandemic, COVID-19 continues to be devastating for members of our community with medical conditions, disabilities, or systemic limits to medical care access. Go Play NW is still taking COVID-19 very seriously in 2024 and we have updated our COVID-19 policy to reflect the ongoing changes in access to COVID-19 vaccine boosters and vaccination history.

We recognize that even with the best precautions and measures, we cannot completely eliminate the risk of contracting COVID-19. We hope our community will support us and comply with our policies to protect the most vulnerable members of our community.

Please review the following requirements, protective measures, and recommendations we have put in place for Go Play NW 2024.

If you have any questions about these policies, please contact us.

Contents

Vaccines and testing

To gain entry to Go Play NW 2024, all attendees must present either proof of a COVID-19 booster taken after July 26, 2023 or a negative COVID-19 PCR or anitgen test administered within 72 hours prior to their entry to Go Play NW 2024.

Proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test should be provided through paper documentation from a provider that administered the test or through a digital photograph of your negative test with metadata confirming it was taken within 72 hours prior to arriving at Go Play NW.

COVID-19 rapid antigen tests are available at the registration table as needed.

Masking

You must wear a KN95-level or higher mask that covers your nose and mouth while indoors at all times. Masks may be removed outdoors and while eating and drinking, but we ask that you put your mask on between bites or sips.

Disposable KN95 masks are available at the registration table as needed.

Protective measures

In addition to our vaccination, testing, and masking requirements, Go Play NW is taking the following measures to help our community stay infection free!

Vaccine Verification Station

A vaccine and COVID test result station will be placed at the entrance to Go Play NW 2024 and staffed by Go Play NW Community Management Committee volunteers. All attendees will be required to provide documentation proving they have gotten their most recent COVID booster within 12 months before arriving at Go Play NW or have a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to arriving at Go Play NW.

Indoor ventilation and Corsi-Rosenthal boxes

The Centilia Cultural Center has a modern ventilation system that incorporates MERV-13 air filters and cycles the air 10.9 times per hour (approx. once every 5.5 minutes.) For games in the much older El Centro de la Raza building, which lacks an HVAC system, we will open windows in the rooms and use Corsi-Rosenthal boxes to cycle the air through MERV-13 filters.

Corsi-Rosenthal boxes (C-R boxes) provide an inexpensive and portable way to improve ventilation and air quality using MERV 13 furnace filters and box fans. C-R boxes will be placed around the Go Play NW venue. For more information on C-R boxes, see this article by CleanAirCrew.org.

Outdoor gaming spaces

The Centilia Cultural Center is part of El Centro de la Raza, which offers several spaces to play games outdoors, including the Santos Rodriguez Memorial Park and the adjacent Centilia plaza, which will have tents, tables, and lighting to support outdoor gaming in the evening and with inclement weather.

KN95 masks are available

Disposable KN95 masks are available to Go Play NW attendees; please see the registration table for more information.

On-site rapid testing

If you feel sick or experience any COVID-19 symptoms, please get tested! Go Play NW has a limited supply of at-home rapid tests for those who are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms; please see the registration table for more information.

We recommend attendees also bring their own rapid tests. At home COVID-19 rapid antigen tests are available at most pharmacies, such as Walgreens or CVS.

Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes

We will provide hand sanitizing stations for attendee use, as well as sanitizing wipes for tables and play materials.
